A Country Fayre has been a key part of the village calendar in Charlton for many years, and is held annually in June, on and around the village green.
This year's Fayre took place on June 16th and we were blessed with a fine day, overcast but the rain did not arrive! There were a number of stalls for entertainment, music was provided by the Malvern Blues Band and another band called Chug from Prince Henrys School. This year we extended the opening times from 12:30 to 4:00pm, which seemed to work well, so we may well keep this next year.
The Dog Show was a success and was run expertly by The Hound Helpers who gave their time at no cost to support the Fayre. A big Thank You to them for their generosity.
After some confusion (mainly we forgot that they needed power for the music), Cropthorne First School did a marvellous Maypole dance that entertained the crowd. Thank You to the teachers and helpers for organising this part of the entertainment.
Unfortunately the “Drop the Mic” competition was not very well supported but the Malvern Blues Band did a wonderful second set.
The set up and take down went very well, by 5:45pm all who wanted to had gone to the pub for a well earned drink.
The total raised for the School Room and Church was just over £2000. We are just finalising the accounts and when the final total is agreed we will let everyone know.
So a big Thank You to all who supported the Fayre and those who helped to make it such a success this year.
The photo was taken at the start of the Fayre by Graham Finnigan from Wick using a drone and he has kindly allowed us to use it.
